Fire Fire....

Well, happy new year!

After part of a good and restful Christmas and new year, I have managed to further sort out the kit for 326. It's still equipped with many lengths of canvas hose, all of which dates from the mid-1950s and which was supplied at the same time as the pumps themselves. In fact, I have even more lengths as I bought more not realising that I already had more than I thought!!

Anyway, great though the canvas hose is, it needs to be dried before being packed away otherwise the canvas and rubber lining deteriorates, which is a bit of a pain.... So, the answer - proper modern fire hose! After handing over a few beer tokens to a fellow goddess owner (of PGW 163) who had some spare, I now have four lengths of 'Duraline' fire hose. Strangely, this was purchased by the EFS to equip the green goddesses for future service in the early 2000s but only a few vehicles were equipped before the decision was taken to retire them, leaving lots of hose. So, I now have a few lengths to make it easier to pump and squirt water, leaving the canvas hose for show.

In terms of the song titles which you may have noticed many of my blog entries have, there is a really song called 'Fire Fire' - it's by the Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yE0HTPkfzs
